Hearing Protection for All!
Hearing Protection for All!
If you're reading this, you've likely seen this box at a club show in Austin, TX. This box contains free earplugs (unless I run out mid-shift!) that are reusable and a little more balanced on what frequencies they are reducing than the foam ones. They also come in a little case so you can save them for next time!
I like to offer these because sometimes, for reasons outside of an engineer's control, in order for everything in a mix to be audible, the PA might have to be louder than might be comfortable for long periods of listening. Also, psychoacoustically, louder sounds are usually perceived as sounding better! BUT constant exposure to live music and hearing damage go hand in hand as a result, and I want to keep people aware of that and able to protect themselves and their futures of hearing more rock n roll but also their grandkids' voices, you know?
